For those of you who come from Scotland, especially Glasgow, you will know exactly who this is. For those of you who don't, well I highly recommend you to continue reading this blog.
Her Music Career-
Amy is a Singer, Songwriter, Guitarist and Musician from Bishopbriggs, Glasgow. In 2007 she released her debut album 'This Is The Life' which featured her singles 'Mr. Rock and Roll' and 'This Is The Life' when she was only 20 years old. These two singles managed to make it into the charts. 'This Is The Life' reached No 1 in six different countries as well as reaching the top ten in another 11 countries. Her album managed to reach No 1 in 4 different countries within Europe (UK, Denmark, the Netherlands and Switzerland). In total, she sold 3 million copies of her album worldwide!
For a debut album she absolutely smashed it! Following her success she was invited onto numerous chat shows including The Ellen DeGeneres Show which attracted worldwide attention.
She released her second album 'A Curious Thing' in 2010 which included her single 'Don't Tell Me That It's Over' which reached number 45 on the UK Singles Charts. This album also featured her song 'Pride' which was inspired by the Scottish national anthem. The music video for this track featured many Scottish people from around the city of Glasgow. The video was also shot in Loch Lommond and Hampden Park which allowed Amy to proudly show the area in which she grew up.
In 2017, Amy released her 4th album 'Under Stars' which rose to No 2 in the UK album chart as well as reaching top 10 album charts in other European countries.
So, How did she do it?
Amy states that she was first inspired to play guitar when she watched 'Travis' sing at T in the park back in 2000. Therefore, she bought a 'Travis' chord book and used her fathers guitar to develop her skills as a 12 year old. She then began to write her own music and perform at pubs and coffee shops around Glasgow at the young age of 15! Amy made a breakthrough when she sent her CD to a new production company and took everyone by surprise with her sheer talent. Then led her to sign a contract with UK record company in 2007.
Autotune or real talent?
I can confidently say after seeing Amy perform live in the Barrowland Ballroom ( Glasgow ) last year, she most definitely does not need any help in the singing department. I left the gig absolutely stunned. She sang with so much passion and I swear she sounded even better (if that's even possible) live. I will forever be on the look out for more of her gigs to re-live that experience. Even if you know her most generic of songs (we all know Mr Rock and Roll right?), I encourage you to go along and see for yourself.
Just incredible.

I'm a fan of Amy, would've liked to see her too
I think Amy Macdonald is wonderful too, such an amazing voice! I wish I'd seen her busk recently in Central Station recently, what a thing to have witnessed! https://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/news/celebs/watch-amy-macdonald-wows-commuters-15211746
