How do I even start writing about this incredible man.
David Robert Jones was a British singer, songwriter and actor who was known under the name of David Bowie. He is a leading figure within both the past and present music industry and is thought to be one of the most 'influential' musicians and performers of the 20th century. I fully agree with this statement.
Throughout his music career (1962-2016), he had sold approximately 140 million albums worldwide which makes him one of the most best selling artists. 'Space Oddity' was his first top five entry into the UK charts after it's release in the summer of 1969. He then reappeared in 1972 with his glam rock alter ego 'Ziggy Stardust'. This is when he released his album 'The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars' which increased his popularity immensely. 'Ziggy Stardust' was also featured on one of his more popular singles 'Starman'.
'Ziggy Stardust' was dressed in an eye-catching costume with reddish-brown hair. David began touring as this character in 1972 and attracted a huge following known as a 'cult of bowie'.

Throughout the 1990's and 2000's David continued experimenting with his music and also began his acting career which included roles in 'Labyrinth', 'The Prestige' and many more film and television roles. David decided to stop touring in 2004 but his last performance was a charity gig in 2006. However, David reappeared in 2013 and released another album titled 'The Next Day'. He remained present within the music industry until he sadly passed of liver cancer 2 days after releasing his last album titled 'Blackstar' in 2016.
If you haven't already, check out his incredible work...
