Ward Thomas consist of two twin sisters, Catherine and Lizzy Ward, from Hampshire, England. This factor played a part of my love for them as Hampshire is not far from where I grew up and where many of my friends currently live! Together they create and perform modern country music and have achieved the title of 'Britain's first country stars'. Their second album 'Cartwheels' achieved No 1 in the UK album charts which was a huge achievement as no other country performer had reached this high in the charts.

Their first album 'From Where We Stand' was released in 2014 and was awarded the UK album of the year at the British Country Music Awards which is a huge achievement for a first album! Their second album 'Cartwheels' (my personal favourite) was released in 2016 and featured their singles 'Carry You Home', 'Guilty Flowers' and (of course) 'Cartwheels'. Since this album went No 1 in the UK album charts it has since gone silver in the UK. This album was the first I heard of the band and funnily enough my 5 year old little sister introduced me to them! Their lyrics are so beautiful and full of warmth and passion. Even though they are twins, each sister has a unique voice which works perfectly with their modern country sound.

I was lucky enough to see these ladies perform while they were touring with Miranda Lambert in 2017 and their engagement with the crowd made the atmosphere of the concert so happy and intimate. I don't think I will ever forget their voices. Please, please, please give their stuff a listen. As always, my favourites are below...
